Technical Assistance
for PlayReadVIP Sites The National Center works with new and existing sites to ensure that the program is implemented successfully and according to best practices, including developing implementation plans for new sites, regular technical assistance meetings, and monitoring of progress towards reaching number goals.

PlayReadVIP Training and
Certification The National Center oversees the certification process for new PlayReadVIP Coaches (3-day training course, series of observations and reviews, PlayReadVIP examination) and maintenance of certification (regular meetings with the PlayReadVIP trainer, monitoring of fidelity to model, PlayReadVIP booster trainings + more).

Program Adaptation
and Quality Improvement The PlayReadVIP National Center continuously works to optimize the program, which has included developing 'Virtual PlayReadVIP' for remote delivery, adaptations for additional languages and cultures, modifications for clinical populations, and applications outside of pediatrics (WIC, home visiting, etc).

Research and
Evaluation The National Center's Research Core maintains multiple active research projects, including NIH-funded randomized controlled trials, qualitative work on impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, and basic science research on child development, parenting, and social determinants of health.

Policymaking, Outreach,
and Advocacy The National Center is active in the pediatric and child development communities, and advocates to ensure that all children and parents have resources to thrive. This work includes activities within the American Academy of Pediatrics, such as publication of policy statements, and within community-level initiatives.

Fundraising and
Strategic Planning The National Center works to secure funding for sites for program delivery, training, and technical assistance, as well as centrally to support program expansion. It is continuously working to strengthen VIP and bring it to more children and families across the country, and is engaged in ongoing strategic planning as well as investigation of financial sustainability through mechanisms such as Medicaid.
